IT'S A DRUNK OPS!!!

Friends, comrades, and horrified onlookers. Next week, those of us in the United States will be celebrating Thanksgiving, a holiday which commemorates two of America's greatest traditions: Taking things that belong to other people with guns, and saying "thank you." To that list we then add "spending" as all across the country, people desperate to do anything besides spend time with their families go out and literally kill each other for sales. It's called "Black Friday" because stores go "in the black" across the board, meaning profit, as opposed to "in the red", which is obviously loss. The function of this unofficial holiday is to turn Thanksgiving into a suburb of the sprawling metropolis that is Christmas, that other great consumer holiday gradually stretching itself out to consume nearly a quarter of the year. Halloween is next, mark my words.

But, I digress. Here at TXR, we'd like to get in on that action. We want you to join us in celebrating ALL these great traditions with us in Planetside 2 on our "Red and Black Friday" event. (Get it? Because those are the TR colors? Yeah!) We're gonna take things that belong to other people, with guns. (Bases.) We're gonna say thank you. (For spending 2 awesome years with us.) We're gonna avoid our families and play video games, even if it's just for a little while. We're gonna get drunk. We're gonna have 150$ worth of giveaways that you won't be able to get by getting trampled to death in a department store. We're gonna have some profits (Double XP) and some losses (mostly of our sobriety).

So be there. If you can play the whole night, awesome. If you can be there for the first or last half hour, or any in between, that's fine too. But don't miss this Drunk Ops, you turkey.

Thank you for taking the opportunity to desecrate Thanksgiving and the true meaning behind it that many in this country still honor. Instead, why don't we take the time to enjoy our time with our families on this American holiday to thank them and God (gods or whatever you worship or don't worship) for getting through another year and not desecrate it by calling it a day of "Taking things that belong to other people with guns, and saying 'thank you'."

I realize you were satirical and sarcastic, but as a combat veteran of the US Army and a firm believer of this country's history, it's constitution, and the principles upon which it was founded, I take great offense to your statement on Thanksgiving. Black Friday, on the other hand, I take pity and place shame upon the selfish masses that take part in that selfish corporate holiday.

On a lighter note, after you've spent time with your families and given thanks to a fruitful year, partake in the drunken Black and Red Friday Night Ops with your brothers of the Terran Republic and give thanks to the New Conglomerate and Vanu Sovereignty with lead and explosives for giving up their bases to our might.

Happy Thanksgiving all!

I didn't mean to offend anyone with this post, I apologize. You could argue this either way, but I won't do so here.

The truth behind Pencil's satire doesn't diminish our country, only by learning from our past and rising above it do we become better. Lets face it, our puritan ancestors were complete dickwads to the natives. The British, French and certainly the Spaniards were even worse.

The founders of the Unites States came around 150 years after the supposed occurrence of the first Thanksgiving in 1621 so to disparage the holiday does nothing to diminish our history.

Thanksgiving itself was first officially set to occur in all states in 1863 on the final Thursday in November, and was changed to the fourth Thursday of November in 1941.

Enjoy your family gathering because it is a chance to catch up with those you have missed not because of whatever pseudo-historical symbolism has been attached to it.

As for Black Friday… well. The people that participate in it suffer enough by their own actions so I see no need to feed the flames.

You said it best Atron. Either way, it's an American tradition dealing with family when the religious context and how natives were treated historically, due to ignorance and such, are taken away. It has nothing to do with violent crime committed by criminals with guns. It has to do with family.

To disparage the holiday, doesn't diminish the history, but diminishes the tradition.

Lets move to the drunk ops to 5th of December. Having it on the 28th your going to have a lower turn out since its the day after thanksgiving people will be out of town. I know many of the outfit members are in college and are going home for a few days.
