Greetings esteemed members, on-lookers, under-aged Thai valets, and otherkin!
Those of us who have taken responsibility for organization and administration of this outfit ('high' leadership) got together for a few hours on Sunday night to go over a few things. We wanted to make sure all of you were kept in the loop about what was discussed.
You are seared by the fires of learning!
State of the Outfit:
We're in the usual, yearly, slump as people wind down their summer vacations and devote some effort to getting back into the school mode. Various vacations and a huge TxR turnout to SOE's convention in Vegas saw a rather large disruption to our normal outfit procedures. The time of upheaval is almost behind us and we will be back to our regularly scheduled activities very soon.
Two major changes have taken place in the ranks of leadership:
First, the sad departure of Fortysixandtwo. Let me be very clear: leadership bears no ill-will to Forty and we are all very sad to see him go. This is not really the result of any one instance, Forty often saw things differently to the majority of leadership and that will eventually wear on anyone. The very thing that made him such a great addition to our leadership team is also something that can be frustrating and tiring for anyone. At the end of the day, Forty felt he would fit better and be less frustrated elsewhere. He is a great leader, a great player, and a good guy. Leadership wishes him the best in the future and he will always have a place here.
Second, Hereticus is back among the ranks of 'high' leadership after a short break. He's spear-heading our Archage group which is so hot right now. Welcome back, Hereticus, it'll be nice to have your opinion back in the council.
As previously mentioned, a large number (17 if I'm not mistaken) of our members recently went to Vegas and put on a hell of a show for the community. These guys and gal acted as our drunken, groping, ambassadors and thrust Total Recoil into a position of prominence within the community. All organizational issues aside, one of our tournament teams even beat the second FCRW tournament team. TWICE. Thanks to the efforts of most of these folks, invitations to exclusive community events have been extended to our outfit and accepted. Be on the lookout for these announcements.
All in all, leadership feels TxR is still very strong and getting stronger. Everyone is rested, encouraged, and ready to get back to playing together and kicking ass.
Weekly Objectives:
Our newest candidate for leadership, Beroken, has decided to take over administration of the weekly objectives. Look for upcoming events and posts on this topic and earn yourself some some accolades and/or rewards!
Competitive Division:
Those of you involved with our competitive efforts have been on a long hiatus. The PAL tournament is on hold until new organizers can be found. Poor VengenceD just burned out and got a second IRL job, so that has been on hold for a while now.
Fortunately, a new tournament is being started that will be a weekly gig formatted into a competitive season. 8 outfits have been asked to participate and Total Recoil is one of those outfits. Right now I understand the tournament rules to be 6v6 infantry fight similar to the SOE tournament (without the bullshit rule changes mid-round). It is unclear how many teams we'll be allowed to field, so brush up on your skills - competition for team slots will be fierce. I've been asked by Talron to possibly help organize the team, but not even that promises me a position at game time. Those who follow directions and prove themselves to be exceptional TEAM players will almost certainly be chosen over skilled players who can't work well with others.
Community Clash is also returning for a new season in the fall. This is a much larger team format with no-holds barred. This year we will be working with the guys from MERC and BAID to put together a very competitive team. This tournament was a lot of fun last year and only looks to be better this time around. Look for coming announcements about practices for this tournament. If you're interested in making this team, you will need a wide range of skills likely to include basic competency in the air. Air training takes place several nights a week for those hoping to learn.
Finally, Total Recoil is becoming a bigger and bigger part of the server smash. These events are massive battles (now on the dev server, Jaeger) between entire servers. We team with the very best outfits from every faction on Connery to smash whatever trashfits the other servers consider to be our rivals. The next event is September 6th (see previous announcements) and Talron has been chosen to be the overall force commander. That's by vote from Connery's outfit representatives folks. Total Recoil, and our fearless leader, is widely respected thanks largely to the efforts of all of our outfit members. Have I mentioned how proud I am to be in this group?
Upcoming Games:
Total Recoil is more than just Planetside 2, even if that is our foundation and common ground. We're involved in a wide range of games. Future plans include branches into:
ArcheAge - F2P fantasy MMO. This effort is being organized by Hereticus, and he's the man to see about getting into this game.
Star Citizen - Poor Richard is our front man for Star Citizen, the most ambitious and well-funded hangar simulator ever imagined. While development is still in progress and release is years away, plans are being laid for Total Recoil's influence to expand into space.
Improving Leadership:
Leadership is constantly looking for ways to better serve you guys and gals. At the end of the day, this outfit is about you and only exists because of you. While a relative few of us have taken on the responsibility (and sometimes privilege) of making decisions that effect that outfit at large, this is not because we consider our opinions to be the only opinions that matter. Your opinions matter to us. If you ever have a question about what is going on in the outfit, why a certain decision was made, or what you can do to help out, please come to us on TS and speak to us. PM us on the website. Hire a stripper to deliver a telegram/lapdance. We want to hear from you if you have something to say. Our doors are always open. There is no problem we can't work through with some communication; you'd be surprised how often we are unaware of problems or miscommunications until it's too late.
If you are interested in becoming a part of the leadership (taking on a bit of work to help the outfit run smoothly or better), please consider applying today. We are always looking for motivated folks to step into positions of responsibility. There is no set limit to how many leaders may be active, and in a very real way, members promote themselves to leadership by working for the outfit. The rank that comes after is merely recognition of the fact. We want you for Total Recoil Leadership!
