Hey folks, there was an issue brought up on the leadership forum that I wanted to take a second to address.
Total Recoil is rather fortunate - we've managed to earn ourselves a pretty solid reputation through the hard work of a lot of our membership over the past year and a half. A big part of that reputation is our open, casual, friendly atmosphere. We pride ourselves on accepting just about anyone and making them a contributing part of one of the best outfits in Planetside 2. This is a rare attitude. Most mid or top tier outfits have very restrictive recruiting processes and only accept proven players.
Because of our policy, we are fortunate to be growing and constantly welcoming new members. Sometimes these members come from other outfits.
Some of the leadership have heard TxR members giving a bit of static to the new guys about previous outfit affiliations. We are sure this was not intended to be rude; after all that's how we kid with each other around here. Please be conscious of the fact, though, that these new guys may not know you are kidding. This goes double for guys from other outfits; they deserve to be proud of the outfits they've been a part of in the past. Try to remember to respect that.
While there have been no formal complaints yet, the concern was raised among the leaders that this kind of joking sounds just a bit elitist, off-putting, and inconsistent with what Total Recoil is about. We've lost members in the past because of similar activity. No one wants to be the guy that ran off another member.
When you see a new member - welcome them. Even if that guy spent the last 3 months farming you in a biolab or running with our rivals, they are choosing to play with TxR. That's a pretty big compliment if you think about it. Please make all efforts to ensure the new people feel welcome here. Give them some time to acclimate to our outfit's unique culture a bit before you start giving them the full-on Kieledar treatment (who is the filthiest of cheaters).
Elitism is for the other outfits. It probably doesn't need to be said that leadership will be on the look out for TxR members who are being elitist pricks so that we can make sure they have an opportunity to be a part of those other outfits.
